SPOTT RANKS MICHELIN #1 TIRE MAKER
IN THE NATURAL RUBBER INDUSTRY
For the fourth consecutive year, Michelin has been ranked the number one tire manufacturer in SPOTT's assessment of the natural rubber sector, maintaining its leadership with a score of over 80%.
This high score reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to public disclosure and reporting on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues to its stakeholders.
As revealed by the latest SPOTT assessment from the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) initiative, “Michelin is the only major tire manufacturer to report verified evidence that plots in its supply chain are deforestation-free”. This highlights the company's dedication to addressing critical environmental challenges, including deforestation to build a world where people and nature can both thrive.
Published in March 2025, the SPOTT assessment evaluated 30 companies in the natural rubber industry, including the world’s largest tire manufacturers and rubber producers.
The SPOTT platform, a ZSL conservation initiative, uses a framework of up to 184 indicators across 10 categories to assess companies' public policies and commitments on ESG issues. This framework helps the financial sector and supply chain stakeholders manage ESG risks effectively and drive positive change.
Editor's note: At the end of 2024, based on traceability, the Group provides tangible evidence that 98% of its natural rubber supplies are now deforestation-free, compared to 9% in 2023.
